I just bought SonoSim online and I have questions!

When will my order ship?

After you check out on the SonoSim online store, you will have access to your online courses and SonoSim mobile app immediately.

Your Welcome Kit and SonoSimulator Probe will ship from California within 5 business days.  This is required to access simulated patient scanning cases.

Once shipped, the welcome kits can take up to 5 days to arrive within the US, and longer outside the US, unless you paid for expedited shipping.

You will receive an email order confirmation at the time of purchase, and a shipping notification once your welcome kit has shipped.

I'm trying to complete a SonoSim Course.

How do I access SonoSim Courses?

From any internet-connected device, go to the MySonoSim Dashboard and click Learn and then Course Library in the left sidebar.

Two courses cover similar concepts. How do I know what each course covers?

At the bottom left of each course block is an "Overview" link. This page will provide a high-level overview of each course, as well as show the course outline and associated scanning case summaries.

What is the passing score for the end-of-course Mastery Test?

The minimum passing score for the Mastery Test is 75%.

When is a course considered "completed"?

For a SonoSim course to be marked as complete, you must (1) view every page of the course for at least 5 seconds, and (2) pass the Mastery Test with a 75% or higher.

I finished a SonoSim course but it's still marked as "In Progress." Why isn't my course complete?

For a SonoSim course to be marked as complete, you must (1) view every page of the course for at least 5 seconds, and (2) pass the Mastery Test with a 75% or higher.

I completed a course. What should I do next?

Now would be a great time to put what you learned into practice with the SonoSimulator.  Plug your SonoSimulator probe into your computer and open the SonoSimulator software and begin scanning the scanning cases associated with the course you completed.

Can I request a course SonoSim doesn't currently have training on?

Yes, we'd love to hear from you! You can request new content by leaving us feedback.

Can I modify the minimum passing score for my learners?

Currently, the minimum passing score for the Mastery Test cannot be modified. If this is a feature you'd like to see, let us know by leaving feedback.

How do I assign a course to my users?

For curriculum planning purposes, SonoSim's Integration tools can help instructors determine which courses align with their curriculum.

Currently, specific courses cannot be directly assigned within SonoSim; instructions for learners on which course to access must be made externally (e.g., via an LMS).

I'm ready to get scanning in the SonoSimulator, but I have questions.

How do I start scanning the real patient cases in the SonoSimulator?

First, you'll need to download and install the SonoSim scanning software.

After the software is installed, you can access the real normal and pathologic scanning cases, applied to virtual patients, by plugging the SonoSimulator probe into your USB port, opening the SonoSimulator software & logging in. Then clicking Scan in the main menu.

If you have a Mac, please BE SURE to read through the special download instructions that pop up after you click Download.

I tried to install the scanning software on my Mac but I was stopped by a warning message. How should I proceed?

There are special installation instructions for Mac machines that differ from typical installation procedures.

Please go to the software download page and click Download for Mac. You will see a pop-up with detailed instructions about downloading on Mac. Please read these instructions carefully.

I successfully installed the SonoSimulator software. What do I do next?

If you haven't already completed the How to Use the SonoSimulator orientation, we recommend doing that first.

After completing that orientation, open up the SonoSim software and click Scan. If you're a new user, you'll be prompted to complete a tutorial on how to use the SonoSim probe, which will go over important SonoSim scanning concepts. After finishing that tutorial, you can start scanning real patient cases in the SonoSimulator.

If you'd like a more guided scanning experience, we recommend following along with our SonoSim Scanning Assignments.

Is there a SonoSimulator user guide?

Yes! You can find the most updated versions of all our user guides here

Also, within the SonoSimulator, there is a guided walkthrough of key features; to access the Features Tour, click the ? symbol in the toolbar (bottom right).

How can I review and/or delete my saved images?

There are two ways to review saved ultrasound images. The first way is by clicking the Review feature within the SonoSimulator. When you click Review, you can view all saved images from that specific case and ultrasound window. To delete an image, click the delete icon. This is the only way to delete a saved ultrasound image.

The second way to review saved ultrasound images is through the Reports Hub in My SonoSim Dashboard. You can review your own images in the My Image Portfolio Report. And for admins, you can review your learners' images via the general Image Portfolio Report. Note: Images cannot be deleted through MySonoSim Dashboard.

Why don't all SonoSimulator cases have Doppler? How can I find cases with Doppler?

All scanning data within SonoSim is acquired from real patients. And because we practice the ALARA principle when acquiring data, we only acquire Doppler when it's medically relevant to the exam.

Though not all scanning cases have Doppler capabilities, many cases do! To find all cases that have Doppler capabilities, check out the Case Features documents within MySonoSim Dashboard.

Can I request scanning content SonoSim doesn't currently have training on?

Yes, we'd love to hear from you! You can request new content by leaving us feedback.

I want to practice Ultrasound-Guided Procedures in the SonoSimulator, but I have questions.

What is the difference between "beginner" and "advanced" procedure modes?

In beginner mode, the probe and needle are moved together as a unit. In advanced mode, the probe and needle can be moved independently, allowing for my precise movements but adding complexity.

Are procedure results saved / recorded?

Though saved images from SonoSim procedures are available for review in Reports Hub, the outcome of the procedure is not saved / recorded for later viewing.

Can I request a procedure SonoSim doesn't currently have training on?

Yes, we'd love to hear from you! You can request new content by leaving us feedback.
