The SonoSim® Ultrasound Training Solution is a great adjunct to your ultrasound education, but SonoSim itself is not an accredited DMS school and does not offer diagnostic medical sonography degrees. For more information on becoming a registered diagnostic medical sonographer in the United States, visit the ARDMS website: www.ardms.org.

Any healthcare professional interested in learning ultrasonography can use the SonoSim® Ultrasound Training Solution. SonoSim is ideal for physicians, residents, nurses, medical students, DMS students, out-of-hospital care providers, and combat casualty care providers.

The SonoSim® Ultrasound Training Solution is a cost-effective and scalable way to provide group-based training to residency training programs, physician groups, simulation centers, and medical and nursing schools.

The SonoSim® Ultrasound Training Solution is a software program that teaches healthcare providers how to perform and interpret ultrasound, particularly in a point-of-care setting. Check if your computer meets the requirements:

Some antivirus software may falsely report that certain SonoSim files might be malicious, namely because they do not have those files in their whitelist database yet. SonoSim encourages protecting your PC from viruses, spyware and other forms of malicious software; however, it is not necessary to run anti-virus and other security applications while you are installing or running the SonoSim® Ultrasound Training Solution.

Anti-virus applications may interfere with programs that interact with hardware, such as the SonoSim® Probe, and can cause a range of problems from sensor connection issues to the application not launching correctly. Please set your antivirus software to “Game Mode” or disable protection prior to installing and launching the SonoSim® Ultrasound Training Solution if you are experiencing problems.

We are actively registering the SonoSim® Ultrasound Training Solution on an ongoing basis with antivirus and firewall software vendors to ensure fewer false positives involving our products appear in the future.

SonoSim LiveScan® Information

SonoSim® CaseBuilder allows instructors to customize their ultrasound training experience by creating their own SonoSim LiveScan® Cases.

SonoSim LiveScan® simulates real ultrasound scans on any person or manikin. Because SonoSim LiveScan® is often coupled with a SonoSim® Edition, didactic instruction and knowledge assessment is provided with the hands-on training.

The Laerdal-SonoSim Ultrasound Solution is a collaborative product that integrates ultrasound simulation into SimMan® and SimMom® manikins and Laerdal Scenarios. The Laerdal-SonoSim Ultrasound Solution allows for a completely immersive simulation experience but ideally must be run by an experienced simulation technician. The Laerdal-SonoSim Ultrasound Solution is sold and distributed by Laerdal Medical. Visit laerdal.com/UltrasoundSolution for more information.

SonoSim LiveScan® may be preinstalled on new purchases of SonoSim® Editions (after July 1, 2014). Existing SonoSim clients that are upgrading from a previous SonoSim® Edition will receive a thumb drive containing an installer that will perform the upgrade.

A video describing how to use SonoSim LiveScan® is available within the SonoSim application. Clients can access the video from the Main Menu by selecting “Product Information,” and then selecting “How to Use SonoSim LiveScan®”.

Do not expose the tags to water or other liquids (e.g., ultrasound gel) as they are not waterproof, and liquids can impede tag performance.

A thin layer of cloth or a thin sheet of nonmetallic material will not typically interfere with SonoSim LiveScan® tag performance. However, any nonmetallic material thicker than two millimeters may substantially diminish tag performance. Any metallic material covering the tags will disable the tags. Avoid applying any direct sudden force over the tags (e.g., hitting, hammering, etc.) as this will damage the delicate hardware within the tags.

The one-time use human tags are manufactured with a hypoallergenic skin adhesive and are designed for one-time usage. The reusable mannequin tags are designed to adhere to industry standard simulation mannequins and come with a 12-month warranty, provided recommended usage practices are observed.

SonoSim LiveScan® can be used on any person, with the following exceptions: SonoSim LiveScan® Tags must NOT be used on anyone with an electronic pacemaker, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, or other implantable electronic medical device. SonoSim LiveScan® components may interfere with such medical devices.

SonoSim LiveScan® should not be used in conjunction with the Laerdal-SonoSim Ultrasound Solution or its manikins.

No, SonoSim LiveScan® is not compatible with the individual-use SonoSim® Personal Solution.

SonoSim LiveScan® is an add-on product for SonoSim group training products, such as the SonoSim® Edition. SonoSim LiveScan® allows users to use a special probe to simulate ultrasound scans in live volunteers or existing medical manikins.
