🗞️ Ultrasound Application News

Explore how clinicians are using point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) to improve cardiovascular diagnosis in emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings in our new blog post. Drawing on findings from a recent clinical review, it highlights where POCUS is making an impact, where challenges remain, and why consistent training is key to success. Read the article here.

⭐️ Special Feature: Ultrasound in Family Medicine

Interest in ultrasound among family medicine practitioners is rapidly expanding. From rural clinics to urban practices, family physicians are embracing point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) as a vital extension of their physical exams, empowering them to diagnose, guide procedures, and manage patients with greater accuracy and confidence. As POCUS becomes more integrated into family medicine training and board competencies, educators and clinicians alike are looking for effective ways to bring ultrasound learning into their curriculum and daily practice.

This growing momentum was on full display at this year’s AAFP Family Medicine Experience (FMX), where SonoSim connected with hundreds of attendees eager to integrate ultrasound into their workflow. The enthusiasm for hands-on learning and the expanding role of POCUS in primary care reinforces a key message: family physicians are ready to lead the charge in making ultrasound a cornerstone of everyday medicine.

Whether it’s improving diagnostic accuracy, reducing referrals, or enhancing patient trust through real-time imaging, ultrasound is redefining the modern family medicine toolkit. SonoSim is proud to support this transformation.

👩‍⚕️ Scanning & Imaging Tips: Scanning Phrygian Cap

The gallbladder can occasionally fold on itself.  This fold in the fundus of the gallbladder is called a “Phrygian cap”.

When a Phrygian cap is encountered it is important to fan all the way through the gallbladder to avoid missing a stone within the gallbladder fundus. This is a fundal stone or stone in the Phrygian cap. One can see the shadow coming down and the neck of the gallbladder is actually down this way.
